Project Summary
Hilda! (In Lights!) has received a pilot order from CBS, marking the network's first greenlight for the 2027-28 development cycle. Written and executive produced by Abbey Caldwell, known for her work on Laid and Fresh Off the Boat, the single-camera comedy centers on a septuagenarian from Nebraska who abandons small-town life to chase Broadway stardom with zero experience. The project is produced by CBS Studios, with additional executive producers Will Graham, Max Linsky, and Tonia Davis from Invitation Media. The series was initially announced in April 2026 with a three-script order and has now advanced to the pilot stage. If picked up to series, it would give CBS a second comedy with a female lead in her 70s alongside the network's hit drama Matlock.
