Project Summary
Hang the Decorators is a dark comedy feature film currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Written by Mike Makowsky, the Emmy-winning screenwriter behind Bad Education and the Netflix limited series Death by Lightning, the project is based on the true story of Alexander Blarek and Frank Pellecchia. These two San Francisco-based interior designers spent 17 years creating extravagant residences for Jose Santacruz Londono, a billionaire client who turned out to be one of the leaders of the infamous Cali cocaine cartel. Berlanti/Schechter Films is producing alongside Makowsky and Yan Fisher for Invisible String Films. Amazon MGM Studios has optioned the rights to the project, which explores themes of complicity, loyalty, and the price of turning a blind eye to danger in exchange for creative freedom and financial security.
