Bookish (Season 3 & Christmas Special)
Project Summary
Bookish is heading back into production with a six-episode third season greenlit at UKTV's U&Alibi channel, set to launch in 2027. Mark Gatiss returns as creator, writer, and star of the cozy crime drama about antiquarian bookshop owner Gabriel Book, who uses his encyclopedic knowledge of literature to help police solve crimes in post-war London. Production begins later in 2026. Eagle Eye Drama, part of ITV Studios, produces in association with Belgian company Happy Duck Films, with principal photography taking place in Belgium as it has for previous seasons. A two-part festive special, Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, is also in the works for a 2026 holiday release. The series follows Book and his wife Trottie (Polly Walker) as they navigate their lavender marriage while he assists Inspector Bliss with unusual cases. Carolina Giammetta directs, with Matthew Sweet co-writing alongside Gatiss.
