Art
Project Summary
Art brings director Fernando Meirelles together with Oscar nominees Ralph Fiennes, Colin Farrell, and Wagner Moura for a film adaptation of Yasmina Reza's Tony-winning play. Christopher Hampton, who translated the original French play for its 1996 West End premiere, returns to write the screenplay. The comedy follows three friends—Marc, Serge, and Yvan—whose bond fractures when Serge purchases a ridiculously expensive white painting, igniting conflict over what constitutes art and exposing deeper grievances. Charles Finch and Tracy Seaward are producing, with Patrick Wachsberger's 193, backed by Legendary, launching sales at the Cannes market. Meirelles reunites with Fiennes after The Constant Gardener and with Farrell following their work on Apple's Sugar. The project marks a return to satirical character-driven material for the Brazilian filmmaker, whose recent work includes Netflix's Here Comes the Flood, currently in post-production.
