Project Summary
Aid is entering pre-production as an international co-production between the Philippines, France, and the Netherlands. Director Brillante Mendoza reunites with actress Judy Ann Santos, who will portray Ruby Dela Cruz, the head of a grassroots organization serving Aeta communities. Stacy Martin plays Angelique Dumont, a European humanitarian executive overseeing aid operations across Southeast Asia, with Jeanne Balibar rounding out the principal cast. Fire & Ice Media serves as delegate producer alongside France's Ghost City Films and the Netherlands' Human Films. The project is being positioned as one of the first features under the bilateral co-production agreement signed by France and the Philippines at Cannes in 2025. Production is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with filming taking place on location at an Aeta village in Pampanga, Mendoza's home region. The film explores how care can become complicity within humanitarian systems, marking another collaboration between Santos and Mendoza following their 2019 film Mindanao.
