About

Sveriges Television AB (SVT) is Sweden's national public service television broadcaster, founded in 1956 and funded by an earmarked income-based public service fee. Operating four channels — SVT1, SVT2, SVT24/SVT Barn, and Kunskapskanalen (jointly with UR) — plus the streaming service SVT Play, SVT is the dominant TV network in Sweden with an audience share of approximately 36.4%. Editorially independent of political and commercial interests, SVT produces original drama, news, entertainment, and documentary content, actively co-produces Swedish feature films, and is a member of the European Broadcasting Union. Its current public service mandate runs from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2033.
