Florida Studio Theatre (FST) is a professional, non-profit contemporary regional theatre company located in Sarasota, Florida, and a member of the League of Resident Theatres. Founded in 1973 and established as a resident theatre in 1980, FST has grown to a campus of five intimate theatre spaces—the Keating Theatre, Gompertz Theatre, Goldstein Cabaret, John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne's Lab Theatre—spanning two downtown city blocks. Recognized by Theatre Communications Group as the third-largest subscription theatre in the country and the largest in Florida, FST serves more than 230,000 live attendees annually across programs including Mainstage, Cabaret, Stage III, Children's Theatre, The FST School, New Play Development, and FST Improv. As of April 2026, FST is undergoing a leadership evolution with founders Richard Hopkins (now Executive Producer) and Rebecca Hopkins (now Executive Director) transitioning roles, and a national search underway for new Artistic Director and Managing Director positions ahead of the 2027–2028 season.
