Written by Michael O. Smith, this one-man show explores the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Born in New York City in 1858 into one of the city's prominent families, Roosevelt forged a public life as vigorous as it was varied: reformer, soldier, conservationist, governor, president, and, later, Nobel Peace Prize recipient. As president, he positioned the federal government as an arbiter between capital and labor—challenging powerful corporate interests while insisting on a "Square Deal" for working Americans and the public good. Married twice and the father of six, Roosevelt also regarded family life as central to his happiness, once writing that he had "the happiest home life of any man whom I have ever known."
