Blumhouse Productions, LLC (d/b/a Blumhouse) is a Los Angeles-based independent film and television production company founded on September 30, 2000 by Jason Blum, widely recognized as the dominant force in horror entertainment. The company pioneered a high-quality micro-budget production model — giving directors creative freedom while keeping costs low — and has produced franchises including Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, Halloween, Get Out, M3GAN, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Speak No Evil, which have collectively generated nearly $9 billion in worldwide box office alongside its Atomic Monster subsidiary. In January 2024, Blumhouse completed a merger with James Wan's Atomic Monster; together the combined companies have represented nearly 50% of the horror market over the last decade. Beyond film, Blumhouse operates a television division (Blumhouse Television), a publishing imprint (Blumhouse Books), and a games division (Blumhouse Games), and holds a first-look deal with Universal Pictures.
