Award winning actress, Viola Davis, heads up a wonderful cast in How To Get Away With Murder. She was recently awarded an Oscar with her portrayal of Rose Maxson in the 2016 drama, Fences, starring Denzel Washington. Davis is the first black actor to win the "triple Crown of acting." She has one an Emmy for her work on How To Get Away With Murder, a Tony for the play, Fences, and the Academy Award for the film adaptation of the play. Davis brings her range of talent to the series, playing Annalise Keating, an ambitious, brilliant defense attorney with secrets. Her portrayal of Keating is down right scary in its intensity at times, showing the wide range of talent and skill Davis brings to the role.
How To Get Away With Murder premiered on September 25, 2014, and stars Davis as high-profile criminal defense attorney and law professor. She has five promising first-year law students interning for her firm and two full-time associate attorneys. The first season dealt with the murders of Sam Keating, Annalise's husband, and his mistress, Lila Stangard, who was also a student at the university. It comes out that the interns, as a group, killed Sam Keating and Annalise works to cover up Sam's death and implicate him in Lila's murder. Something that will follow the team, as a corrupt district attorney sets out to implicate Annalise in the murders. Season one works to cement the relationships between the characters and spins off subplots that add a level of depth and intrigue to the series, setting the stage for discoveries and story developments for the subsequent seasons.
In season two, Alfred Enoch's character, Wes Gibbins comes to the forefront while investigating his mother's suicide 10 years earlier, something that Annalise Keating was involved in. It is during this season that Wes and Laurel Castillo (played by Karla Souza) start to consider a relationship, that blossoms in season three. This sets the stage for Wes's murder, ordered by Laurel's father, because of his disapproval of the relationship. The viewing audience knows who the killer is at the end of season 3, but the characters do not.
Season 4 should be explosive as the cast finds out who the killer is and his relationship to Laurel and her family. Wes' death is never far from their minds and will cause havoc in the lives of the team. Lies, busted friendships, and shattered trust are just under the surface in season 4. Couple all this with a new murder mystery and a violent, uncontrollable storm could erupt, changing lives forever.
