The Gun Trace Task Force is set up at the Baltimore Police Department in an effort to get weapons and violent criminals off of the streets. But in 2017, the officers on the nine-member task force are arrested and eventually convicted or plead guilty to crimes related to illegal searches and the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, jewelry, and drugs among other offenses. Seven of those involved admit their guilt, while two — Detective Daniel Hersl and Detective Marcus Taylor — fight the charges in court and are given 18 year prison sentences.
