Untitled Daniels/Universal Event Film

The Daniels—Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert—return to sci-fi with an untitled event film at Universal Pictures, marking their first feature since Everything Everywhere All at Once swept seven Oscars in 2023. Matt Damon leads the ensemble in what the filmmakers describe as an existential action comedy with a big heart, joined by Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Sean Kaufman, Michael Gandolfini, and a younger cast including Silvia Dionicio, Jackson Kelly, Kerrice Brooks, and Thalia Dudek. The story reportedly jumps between the 1980s and present day, exploring themes of global warming, time travel, and possibly superheroes. The Daniels are writing and directing, with Jonathan Wang producing through their Playgrounds production banner. Production is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles after the project secured California tax credits, with Universal targeting a November 19, 2027 theatrical release.
