Untitled Daniels Event Film

Oscar-winning directing duo the Daniels are returning with their first feature since Everything Everywhere All at Once, bringing Matt Damon aboard to lead an untitled event film at Universal Pictures. Damon closed his deal in late May 2026, stepping into a role originally circled by Ryan Gosling, who exited due to scheduling conflicts. The ensemble also includes Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, Sean Kaufman, and a growing roster of younger talent including Silvia Dionicio, Jackson Kelly, Kerrice Brooks, and Thalia Dudek. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert are writing and directing from their own script, with Jonathan Wang producing through their Playgrounds banner under an overall deal with Universal. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles this summer—late summer 2026, following Damon's promotional commitments for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which opens in mid-July. Plot details remain tightly under wraps, though sources indicate the younger ensemble will share equal screen time with Damon, with Kaufman leading that group. The project was developed over the past two years at Universal and is scheduled for a November 19, 2027 theatrical release.
