Project Summary

Two Gun Cohen marks the English-language debut of acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Johnnie To, who has described the project as a 'dim sum Western.' The film tells the true story of Morris Cohen, a Jewish immigrant who settled in the Canadian prairies in the early 1900s and met Dr. Sun Yat-sen before Sun rose to become the father of modern China. Cohen eventually became Sun's protector and confidant through the tumultuous years of the Chinese Revolution. The project is one of the first titles from Rawk Moving Pictures Corp, the new Canadian production house launched by veteran producer Todd Brown, who previously spent 17 years as head of international acquisitions at XYZ Films. The producing team includes Chris Yurkovich of Fiera Stranga and Michael Solomon of Band With Pictures as executive producer. Patrick Whistler is attached to write the screenplay, and the project has received development backing from Telefilm Canada. Rawk will present the project at the Frontieres co-production market in Toronto this September, seeking financiers, co-producers, and sales partners.
