The Swimming Lesson

The Swimming Lesson is an indie dramedy feature entering pre-production with a summer 2026 production start planned in Kansas City. Writer-director Casey Twenter, making his solo feature directorial debut, helmed the project from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Robison. The pair previously collaborated on the 2014 drama Rudderless. Heidi Gardner leads the cast as Tay, a single mother leaving Los Angeles to return to her childhood home, with William H. Macy co-starring as her father Leonard. The producing team includes Dan Koetting for KP's Remain, Robison for Kindling Productions, and Jen Greenstreet and Mandi Kearns for Just Like You Films. Mark Williams serves as director of photography, Mateo Messina is composing the music, and Spark Casting is handling the cast assembly. The project focuses on a custody battle involving Tay's autistic son, with the director noting the story balances humor, chaos, and heartbreak.
