Project Summary
The Hungry One is a supernatural horror feature entering pre-production with Venezuelan director Alejandro Hidalgo at the helm. The project centers on Emily, an American woman who travels with her Chinese Malaysian husband Simon and their son to his family's Malaysian mansion during the Hungry Ghost Festival. Kuala Lumpur-based Abnormal Studios is handling worldwide sales and introduced the project at the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market. Justin Leong is producing through Los Angeles-based Lightning Pictures, drawing on his Malaysian-Chinese heritage to shape the story. The producing team includes Harrison Allen and Thomas Percy Kim, with screenwriter Justin Parker penning the script. Singapore-based Clover Films has acquired distribution rights for Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The project is currently finalizing its financing package.
