Project Summary
The Getaway is returning to screens in a new Netflix adaptation helmed by Philip Barantini, the Emmy-winning director behind the streamer's acclaimed series Adolescence. Peter Craig, whose credits include The Town and The Batman, is writing the script for this remake of the 1972 Sam Peckinpah thriller. The project reunites Barantini and Craig, who are also collaborating on the Netflix series Rabbit Rabbit. Producing are Craig and Bryan Unkeless through Night Owl Stories, Andrew Mittman for 1. 21, and Barantini with Samantha Beddoe via It's All Made Up. Barantini is currently finishing Enola Holmes 3 for Netflix before moving on to this project. The original starred Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw as a married couple who rob a Texas bank as part of a deal to secure his release from prison, then must flee across Texas to Mexico.
