The Fourth State follows Dr. Allen Walker, a brilliant neuroscientist haunted by his mother's murder twenty years earlier, whose life is upended when the FBI recruits him to study Krow, a dangerous criminal exhibiting extraordinary cognitive abilities and rapidly deteriorating memory. As Allen investigates, he uncovers a connection between Krow, his mother's secret research, and an abandoned experiment known as Project Silka, leading him toward a conspiracy buried within his own past. But the deeper Allen goes, the more his own mind begins to change, revealing that Krow may not have been the experiment's greatest success — and that Allen himself may possess the ability to reach a neurological state beyond ordinary human perception known as The Fourth State.
