Project Summary
The Emissary of Light is a feature documentary currently in production from director Jonathan Gruber and producer Rachel Greenberg, the team behind Upheaval: The Journey of Menachem Begin and Centered: Joe Lieberman. The film has rolled cameras and is documenting the remarkable life of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known as the Rebbe, who led the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement for 44 years until his passing in 1994. The Rebbe's teachings and network of emissaries influenced world leaders including Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and transformed the movement into a global presence with thousands of emissaries worldwide. Production company Hidden Light Institute is behind the project.
