The Divine Comedy
Project Summary
The Divine Comedy is gearing up for principal photography in Rome this September, with Chilean horror filmmaker Patricio Valladares at the helm. The fantasy-horror adaptation reimagines Dante Alighieri's Inferno, following Dante, a grieving writer, and Virgil, a former priest, as they descend into Hell in search of Dante's wife Beatrice. The production is a collaboration between Italian company Anxur Films and Ireland's Skincrawl Studios, which is also handling international sales. The cast includes Christopher Rygh, known for Vikings: Valhalla, alongside Matthew Metcalfe, Tilda Metsola, and Fadhillah Othman. Valladares, whose 2023 found-footage horror Invoking Yell premiered at genre festivals, promises to push boundaries with levels of physical horror comparable to Hellraiser and Frontier(s). Filming begins September 7 in Rome.
