Project Summary
The Babysitter brings R. L. Stine's 1989 horror novel to the screen as part of Tubi's ongoing partnership with the celebrated author. The live-action thriller follows Jenny, a sixteen-year-old aspiring writer who accepts a babysitting job despite warnings of a prowler targeting teenage girls in her town. When threatening phone calls begin and news of a dangerous fugitive surfaces, Jenny's situation escalates from unsettling to dangerous. Writer Jem Garrard, who previously helmed both Pumpkinhead films for Tubi, is scripting the adaptation, with Trevor Calverley directing. Blue Ice is producing, with executive producers including Lance Samuels, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine, and Garrard. The project marks the fourth collaboration between Tubi and Stine, following two Pumpkinhead installments and the recently announced Afraid of Clowns. The film is targeting a 2027 release on the free streaming platform.
