The Ambassador

The Ambassador is a ten-episode half-hour comedy heading into pre-production for CBC, with a winter 2027 premiere planned. Samantha Bee stars as Olivia Winters, a former actor who pivots to diplomatic work at the Canadian embassy in Bulgaria. Alongside Allana Harkin as Andrea Taylor, a policy-driven Chargé d'Affaires, the duo navigates the challenges of operating far from traditional power centers with limited resources and constant scrutiny from Ottawa. Showrunner Tim McAuliffe, known for his work on Son of a Critch and The Office, leads the project for Amaze Film & Television, the Toronto-based production company founded by Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence. Executive producers include McAuliffe, Lawrence, and Souther. The series marks Bee's return to a lead television role since Full Frontal with Samantha Bee concluded in 2022, and reunites her with Harkin, who previously worked as a producer and correspondent on that show.
