Project Summary
Skyward, the first book in Brandon Sanderson's Cytoverse sci-fi franchise, is being adapted as a television series by Tomorrow Studios, the indie production company behind Netflix's One Piece. Sanderson is co-writing the pilot script with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, the showrunning team from Marvel's Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. The series follows Spensa Nightshade, a teenage pilot who dreams of joining the fighter corps to defend humanity trapped on the planet Detritus and constantly under attack by mysterious alien forces called the Krell. The project is currently in the pilot-script stage of development, with no network or streaming platform attached yet. Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements will executive produce alongside Sanderson, Whedon, and Tancharoen through their ITV Studios partnership. The adaptation represents Tomorrow Studios' continued focus on high-profile genre adaptations following their success with One Piece.
