Martha marks Ramy Youssef's first feature film for A24, with the comedian-actor-filmmaker stepping behind the camera to direct. Josh Safdie, known for his work on Marty Supreme and the Safdie Brothers collaborations, joins as co-writer and producer. The project is being kept under wraps with plot details and casting closely guarded. Production is scheduled to begin in New York this October. Youssef, best known for creating and starring in the Hulu series Ramy, has increasingly established himself as a director through his work on that series as well as episodes of The Bear. His transition to feature filmmaking was reportedly encouraged by director Yorgos Lanthimos during their collaboration on Poor Things. For Safdie, this project reunites him with A24 following his solo directorial debut Marty Supreme.
