Marguerite Alibert

Egyptian-Palestinian director and producer Tarek Al Arian is developing a period drama centered on Marguerite Alibert, the notorious French courtesan whose life intersected with European royalty and ended in a sensational murder trial. The project marks Al Arian's first venture outside the Middle East, with plans to shoot across France, the United Kingdom, and Egypt. Al Arian, known for Arabic-language franchises including Sons of Rizk and The Ladder and The Snake, is developing the film under his Framework for Film Production banner. The drama will likely be shot in English, tracking Alibert's 1917 affair with the Prince of Wales through to her 1923 trial for killing her Egyptian husband Ali Kamel Fahmy Bey at The Savoy Hotel, where she successfully claimed self-defense.
