Kildare

Kildare is an Outer Banks prequel series entering development at Netflix from original creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. Set approximately 20 years before the flagship series, the project explores the origins of the fictional island's class divide between the wealthy Kooks of Figure Eight and the working-class Pogues of The Cut. The trio is currently working on the script under their Netflix overall deal, with Josh Pate noting they're focused on telling the story of how the island split into haves and have-nots. While the prequel concept has been discussed since 2023, it only recently entered formal development and is gaining momentum at the streamer. Jonas Pate has expressed interest in filming the series in Wilmington, North Carolina, which would mark the first time the Outer Banks universe shoots in the state where it is set, after five seasons of the original series filmed around Charleston, South Carolina.
