Project Summary
In Nazi-occupied Greece, a Greek policeman secretly protects a resistance courier inside a Gestapo prison commanded by a German priest determined to break her silence. KATERINI is a feature-length World War II historical drama inspired by the true story of the writer’s grandparents, who met in a Nazi prison in occupied Greece, where he was serving as a guard and she was a prisoner. The project is being developed with the scale, emotional sweep and prestige-period sensibility of films such as The English Patient. Set primarily in Katerini, Greece, the screenplay is developed and the project is currently seeking an experienced lead producer, Greek/European co-production partners, and financing relationships to help move the film toward production. The project is envisioned as an international historical drama for the English-language market.
