Hold the Devil
Project Summary
Hold the Devil is an action-horror thriller from Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia, working from a screenplay by Joe Barton. The film stars Oscar winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph as police officer Sara Myall and Oscar nominee Demián Bichir as security guard Henry Campos. When the pair arrive at an abandoned show home on the Texas border to investigate a break-in, they discover a wounded mother and her ten-year-old son Gio sheltering after crossing from Mexico. The situation escalates when cartel leader Marcus arrives with armed men, demanding the child—who harbors a dark supernatural power. The project is being produced by Two & Two Pictures, Fifth Season, and Pokeepsie Films, the production company run by de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang. Protagonist Pictures is launching international sales at the 2026 Cannes market, with CAA Media Finance handling domestic rights. The film is described as blending gritty action with supernatural horror in what producers call an explosive fusion of haunted-house terror and home-invasion intensity. Production details including start date have not yet been announced.
