Project Summary
Grandma, Please is a Mandarin-language remake of the 2024 Sundance breakout Thelma, now in development at Stars Collective. Peter Luo is writing the adapted screenplay and producing alongside Stars Collective Co-CEO Nancy Xu and Wayne Wei Jiang. The story follows an octogenarian grandmother who, after falling victim to an AI-powered phone scam, embarks on her own investigation to recover her stolen savings, reconnecting with a former basketball captain turned care home resident along the way. Stars Collective negotiated the remake rights with Team Thelma LLC, which controls the original film's adaptation rights. Production is targeting a start in the second half of 2027.
