Project Summary

Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837) was an Italian poet known for his melancholic verses. Despite physical frailty and isolation, he excelled in literature. His poetry delved into existentialism, fleeting happiness, and human suffering. "Canti" is his masterpiece, defining Italian Romanticism with a pessimistic worldview. Leopardi's expertise extended to philosophy and philology, leaving a lasting impact on Italian literature and poetry.
