Black Box

Black Box is Netflix's English-language remake of the 2021 French thriller Boîte Noire, now in development with writers Adam Gyngell and Fred Fernandez-Armesto adapting the screenplay. Tim Fehlbaum, the Oscar-nominated director of September 5, is attached to helm the paranoid thriller. The project is being produced by Andrew Mittman under his 1. 21 banner, alongside original producers Wassim Beji, Thibault Gast, and Matthias Weber, with Kai Dolbashian executive producing. The remake follows an NTSB black box analyst assigned to investigate a devastating plane crash who uncovers disturbing audio evidence pointing to a conspiracy. Gyngell and Fernandez-Armesto are UK-based writing partners whose credits include work on Apple TV's Hijack and ITV's Strangers. The project is currently in the scripting phase, with no production dates or locations announced.
