About

Ryan Patrick Murphy (born November 9, 1965, Indianapolis, Indiana) is one of the most powerful and prolific figures in American television, widely recognized as the creator of landmark series including Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Pose, and the Monster anthology franchise. He is noted for pioneering inclusive storytelling centered on LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities, and for launching the Half Initiative to promote women and minorities behind the camera. In 2018, he signed the largest development deal in television history — a five-year, $300 million overall deal with Netflix — and has since expanded his output across Netflix, FX, Hulu, and ABC with shows such as The Beauty, All's Fair, and The Shards. His accolades include six Primetime Emmy Awards, two BAFTAs, a Tony Award, four PGA Awards, two Golden Globes, and the honorary Carol Burnett Award.
