Ryan Patrick Murphy (born November 9, 1965, Indianapolis, Indiana) is one of the most prolific and powerful figures in American television, creator of landmark series including Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Pose, and the Monster anthology franchise. After a landmark five-year, $300 million overall deal with Netflix (2018–2023), he transitioned to a major overall deal with Disney's 20th Television, producing content for FX, Hulu, and ABC including Grotesquerie, The Beauty, The Shards, Doctor Odyssey, and All's Fair, while continuing to executive produce 9-1-1 and the American Story franchise. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2025 and his accolades include six Primetime Emmy Awards, two BAFTAs, a Tony Award, four PGA Awards, two Golden Globes, and the honorary Carol Burnett Award.
