ZDFneo is a German free-to-air public television channel owned by ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen), launched on 1 November 2009 as a replacement for ZDFdokukanal, and aimed at viewers aged 25 to 49. The channel is headquartered in Mainz, Germany, and focuses on fiction, entertainment series, comedy, and imported international programming from the US and UK, occupying a niche between the traditional appeal of ZDF's main channel and commercial entertainment. ZDFneo has gained a reputation for airing acclaimed foreign series and edgier German productions, and its content is also available on-demand via the ZDFmediathek streaming platform. In March 2026, it was announced that ZDFneo would merge with ARD's channel One in 2027, rebranding as 'Neo' as a joint venture between the two public broadcasters.
