Founded in 1956 by Frank Packer as TCN-9 in Sydney — Australia's first commercial television station — the network today operates owned-and-operated stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Darwin, plus affiliated regional coverage via WIN Television, Southern Cross Media Group, and Imparja Television. As of 2025, Nine Network ranks as the second-rated free-to-air television network in Australia and broadcasts across its primary channel, HD simulcast 9HD, and multicast channels 9Gem, 9Go!, 9Life, and 9Rush, with its streaming platform 9Now serving as Australia's leading commercial broadcaster video-on-demand service.
