Founded in 2019 by filmmaker Scott Derrickson and screenwriter C. Robert Cargill, Crooked Highway is a Los Angeles-based production company dedicated to creating exciting and thought-provoking entertainment for film and television, and to supporting a new generation of storytellers across a wide spectrum of genres. The company is best known for The Black Phone (2022) and its sequel Black Phone 2 (2025), both produced with Blumhouse for Universal Pictures, and The Gorge (2025) for Apple TV+, co-produced with Skydance Media. Crooked Highway currently holds a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to produce feature films for Screen Gems.
