Beta Film GmbH is a leading European independent film and television group, founded in 1959 by Leo Kirch and owned by Jan Mojto since 2004, that produces, finances, and distributes television and film content for the global market. With a library of over 30,000 hours across more than 4,000 titles — including numerous Oscar- and Emmy-winning productions — the company distributes TV license rights to customers in over 165 countries and theatrical films internationally through its Beta Cinema label. The company holds stakes in over 40 production companies and distribution labels, and also operates special interest channels throughout Europe, making it one of the largest independent content groups on the continent.
