Project Summary
The Regulator is a character-driven western that Meridian Pictures recently acquired from screenwriter Mike Maples, known for Backtrace and Miracle Run. Set in 1895, the film centers on a legendary regulator attempting to leave behind his violent past, only to be thrust into protecting his long-lost son when a powerful cattle empire targets them both. Eric Paquette, founder and CEO of Meridian Pictures and a former Sony and MGM executive, will produce alongside Aaron Barnett, whose credits include In the Shadow of the Moon. The project is currently in development with no production timeline yet announced. Meridian's recent slate includes The Silent Hour and other projects targeting second-quarter 2027 production starts.
