Project Summary
Diaspora is a German-Turkish drama marking director Nader Saeivar's latest collaboration with producer Said Nur Akkus. Turkish actress Hande Erçel leads as Merve, an educated middle-class woman navigating life in Berlin with her 12-year-old son following her husband's tragic death in Turkey. German actor Moritz Bleibtreu joins as the father of a German family. The trilingual production—filmed in German, English, and Turkish—is set entirely in Berlin and produced jointly by Arthood Films and Sky Films. Saeivar, the Berlin-based Iranian director known for The Witness and Hijamat, co-wrote the script exploring East-West dynamics and immigrant experiences. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with Erçel arriving a month prior for character development and language training.
