About

Comunidad Filmin S.L., doing business as Filmin, is a Spanish subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) streaming platform, production company, and film distributor, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. Founded in 2007 and launched publicly in 2008, Filmin specialises in independent films, auteur cinema, European classics, documentaries, and curated series, offering over 15,000 titles with approximately 65% European content. The platform operates primarily in Spain and Portugal and distinguishes itself as a cinephile-focused alternative to mainstream streamers, pioneering the simultaneous theatrical and online release of a Spanish film in 2008. In 2020, investment funds Nazca Capital and Seaya Ventures acquired a 51% majority stake to accelerate growth; in June 2026, Filmin further expanded its distribution footprint by acquiring the acquisitions and distribution operations of Elastica Films.
