About

The MEDIA strand of Creative Europe is the European Commission's flagship funding initiative for the European film, television, video games, and audiovisual sectors, originally founded in 1990 (as a standalone programme) and operating since 2014 under the Creative Europe umbrella. With a total budget of €2.44 billion for 2021–2027, it supports the development, distribution, promotion, and training activities of European audiovisual professionals, administered operationally by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) on behalf of DG CONNECT. In 2026 it marks its 35th anniversary, and a successor initiative, AgoraEU (2028–2034), is proposed to include a strengthened MEDIA+ strand.
