Coin Operated is a Los Angeles-based horror-focused production company founded in 2020 by writer-producer-director Gary Dauberman, the multi-hyphenate behind the It, Annabelle, and The Nun franchises. Led by President Mia Maniscalco (formerly Senior VP of Creative Affairs at Amblin Partners) and Director of Development Max Lippe, the company operates under a first-look feature deal with Screen Gems/Sony Pictures and a prior first-look TV deal at Universal Content Productions (UCP). Coin Operated is one of the most active horror production banners in Hollywood, with an expanding slate spanning video game adaptations, franchise sequels, and original horror projects across Screen Gems/Sony, Paramount, and Warner Bros.
