Coin Operated is a Los Angeles-based, horror-focused production company founded in 2020 by writer-producer-director Gary Dauberman, the multi-hyphenate behind the It, Annabelle, and The Nun franchises. The company operates under a first-look feature deal with Screen Gems/Sony Pictures and previously held a first-look television deal with Universal Content Productions (UCP). Led by President Mia Maniscalco and Director of Development Max Lippe, the banner has rapidly expanded its slate to include video game adaptations (Until Dawn), IP-based franchise sequels, and original horror features across Screen Gems/Sony, Paramount, and New Line Cinema/Warner Bros.
