California Film Commission

The California Film Commission (CFC) is a state government agency and economic development office under the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), created in 1984 to enhance California's position as the premier location for motion picture, television, and commercial production. As a one-stop resource for filmmakers, the CFC provides services including the Film & Television Tax Credit Program, free online permitting for state-owned properties, an extensive digital location library (CinemaScout), and production assistance for projects of all sizes and budgets. The Commission also oversees a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiative and manages a statewide network of over 50 local film commissions known as FLICS (Film Liaisons in California, Statewide). Its board is composed of 26 members appointed by the Governor, the Senate Committee on Rules, and the Speaker of the Assembly.
