Black Bear Pictures (CA)

Founded in 2011 by Teddy Schwarzman, Black Bear Pictures is a full-scale independent studio based in Santa Monica, CA with offices in London, UK. The company develops, produces, finances, and distributes original film and television content, with a slate that has earned 22 Academy Award nominations and 13 BAFTA nominations. Black Bear operates a bespoke artist management arm, an international sales and distribution division (Black Bear International), direct theatrical distribution in the UK/Ireland and (as of 2025) the US, and a documentary venture (Double Agent) with New Regency. Its sister company, Elevation Pictures, is the leading independent theatrical distributor in Canada.
