19 Entertainment is a music-focused television production company owned by Sony Pictures Television through its nonfiction division, originally founded by Simon Fuller in London in April 1985. It is best known for originating the global Pop Idol/American Idol franchise — sold to more than seventy countries — and for co-producing So You Think You Can Dance. Following a series of ownership changes through CKX Inc., CORE Media Group, and Industrial Media, it was acquired by Sony Pictures Television in March 2022 for $350 million and today operates as part of Sony Pictures Television Nonfiction, also running 19 Recordings and 19 Publishing as music-division arms.
