Filming in February: Zachary Levi to Star in DC's New Hero Film Shazam

DC's upcoming superhero film Shazam stars Zachary Levi and Asher Angel. Filming will start in February 2018 in Toronto, Canada. The film is expected to hit the theaters on April 5th, 2019.

DC's upcoming superhero film Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Peter Safran from Annabelle: Creation and Aquaman will be producing the film. Among Shazam's confirmed cast is Zachary Levi who is stepping out from the Marvel Universe and jumping into DC films. Zachary Levi will be playing the adult version of Shazam. Andi Mack star Asher Angel will be playing his younger alter ego, Billy Batson. Jack Dylan Grazer, from It and Me Myself & I, will play Batson's best friend. He is the only person who knows Batson's well-kept secret. Mark Strong from Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Golden Circle is in talks to play the villainous Dr. Sivana.

The story center's on teenager Billy Batson, who can transform into an adult superhero by saying the magic word "Shazam"!
