Scarpetta Season 2 Is Live in Development - Crew & Talent Get Ready

The acclaimed Amazon Prime Video drama Scarpetta, starring and executive produced by Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, is officially deep in development for its second season following a two‑season commitment secured with the initial green‑light. In September 2024 Amazon announced the series with a full two‑season order.

Much of Season 1’s production wrapped earlier this year after filming began in Tennessee in late 2024.  With Season 2 now set up, production offices and crews should begin preparing for rollout—especially since the executive team and key producers (including Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films, Jamie Lee Curtis’ Comet Pictures, and Blumhouse Television) are already established.

For technicians and creatives this is an ideal moment to align availability, refresh reels, and start networking. Departments like art and set design will need to recreate procedural lab spaces, Southern‑setting crime locations, and perhaps explore new regional environments given the series’ roots in Virginia, Florida and South Carolina as set out in Patricia Cornwell’s novels. Camera, lighting, grip and location crews should anticipate a mix of build‑sets and practical Southern locales—potentially returning to Tennessee or branching into new states. Though no shooting window for Season 2 has been publicly confirmed yet, internal industry tracking suggests pre‑production may begin later in 2025 or early 2026.

Casting for Season 2 is not yet publicly announced, but supporting actors, guest stars and background talent will almost certainly be sought once scripts are locked. Casting assistants, extras coordinators and stand‑in teams should stay prepped—especially those with experience in heavyweight crime drama and procedural setups.

To stay on top of crew calls, hiring contacts, casting updates, and schedule alerts, subscribing to ProductionList.com is strongly recommended. The early phase of a series reboot offers one of the best windows for getting in when department heads and key crews are still being assembled.

As Scarpetta transitions into Season 2, it presents a significant opportunity for below‑the‑line professionals and talent alike: a high‑profile streaming series with strong backing, star‑power, and narrative scope stretching across states and scenes. If you’re ready for your next big gig, now’s the time to be ready.
