Roger Ross Williams is an Oscar, Emmy, and Peabody Award-winning director, producer, and writer, and the first African American director to win an Academy Award, for his short documentary Music by Prudence (2010). His acclaimed documentary work includes Life, Animated (Sundance Directing Award, Academy Award nomination, three Emmys), God Loves Uganda, The Apollo, Stamped from the Beginning (Netflix), The 1619 Project (Primetime Emmy), The Supermodels (Apple TV+), and his narrative feature debut Cassandro (2023, Amazon Prime Video). He co-founded One Story Up in 2016 with Geoff Martz, a production company dedicated to amplifying filmmakers from underrepresented communities, and is currently in pre-production on Strange Arrivals, a narrative feature for See-Saw Films starring Demi Moore and Colman Domingo.
