About
Julie Ann Gardner MBE is an award-winning Welsh television producer based in Los Angeles, best known for spearheading the 2005 revival of Doctor Who as BBC's Head of Drama for BBC Wales alongside Russell T Davies. In 2015, she co-founded Bad Wolf with Jane Tranter — the independent production company (now a Sony Pictures Television subsidiary) behind His Dark Materials, A Discovery of Witches, I Hate Suzie, The Winter King, Doctor Who (2023–), and The War Between the Land and the Sea — and in 2019 founded and now runs sister company Bad Wolf America, whose debut title was Lady in the Lake (Apple TV+). She is the recipient of the BAFTA Cymru Outstanding Contribution to Television Award (2024), the Siân Phillips Award at BAFTA Cymru (2013), and was made an MBE in 2014 for services to the television industry in Wales.
