Etan Frankel is an American playwright and television writer-producer who began his career as a playwright, graduating from the Juilliard Playwrights Program and winning the Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2006 Weissberger Playwriting Award. He transitioned to television, writing for Gossip Girl and Friday Night Lights before rising through the producing ranks on Shameless (seven seasons), Animal Kingdom, and Get Shorty. He served as showrunner on Facebook Watch's Sorry for Your Loss and creator/showrunner of Peacock's Joe vs. Carole; as of February 2026, he has inked a first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios while simultaneously developing the Netflix supernatural series Prism (starring Millie Bobby Brown) as showrunner and executive producer.
