About
Christine Vachon is one of American independent cinema's most celebrated producers, co-founding Killer Films with Pamela Koffler in 1995 and building a slate of over 100 features across three decades — including Boys Don't Cry, Far from Heaven, Carol, Still Alice, Past Lives, May December, and Materialists. A defining figure of the New Queer Cinema movement, she received her first Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for Past Lives (2023) and has won Emmy, Independent Spirit, and Gotham Awards. She also serves as Artistic Director of the MFA in Film and Television Writing at Stony Brook University's Manhattan campus and is the author of two books on independent film producing: Shooting to Kill (1998) and A Killer Life (2006). In 2025, Killer Films celebrated its 30th anniversary with a Metrograph retrospective and the box office success of Materialists (A24).
